I read this topic tonight and I must say…I have read those words of Jesus in Matthew, and wondered if those around that day knew why He said those words from Psalms. Your study in this is enlightening. Thank you for taking the time to share this…a nice way to end this day…The Ressurection Day of our Lord.

Oh! I almost forgot! In light of the Tola translation of the word “worm” (especially since the other Hebraic translation is Rimmah – Maggot) Read Job 25 and Mark 9:42-50 paired with Hebrews 10:26-31. I believe the significance of understanding the Tola worm is a very loud calling for Christians to stop sinning… (seriously… no really stop.) Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.” He wasn’t kidding!

Also Hebrews 2:10 is a fun relation to the Tola worm.

I could continue, with how multi-faceted the tola worm is, but these are my favorites.

Omegaman,
Much like our friend, “Blue” I, too, was researching the tola worm. My story is just like yours; someone told me to look up info on the tola worm, and I’m the kind of guy who HAS to find out all the details if I’m gonna believe it. I could not find ANYTHING at first!!!! I’d read just about everything and only find bits and pieces. I began finding scraps of literature, history, and news clippings about this little worm and finding it hard to NOT associate her with our savior!

This obsession with this worm started about a year ago, and I’ve been refining my version of the story. Thanks to Strong’s, Wikipedia, and Encyclopedias, I’ve gotten all the info I need to teach this lesson. (I teach sunday school, and the kids LOVE breaking from the normal lesson about Christ’s love, to hear me talk about bugs! … Little do they know, hehe.) The more people I tell this to, the more refined the story becomes, so I’ve decided to blog about it. This will be a way to archive my thoughts about the Tola Worm as well. So I’ve been re-researching it to get all of my notes in order finding other sources that agree.

Now EVERYONE seems to know a little about the Tola Worm, so this has been a treat to study again! (Much easier!) I came across your essay on it and thought I’d drop you a line. We apparently both like pulling back the “layers” to find what God is REALLY trying to tell us. (Once again, Blue… I like the way you think!)

Dear O’man, I found you through my search for the “towla” worm. I thank you for not only that information but it led me to this website to glean other information. I get excited about learning of God’s word because it is to me like a thousands layers, and I am maybe on the 5th or 6th layer. For me this is where I start to desire to know the original language. I appreciate your inspired words and studies. Know then that God has used you for my studies.

I just wanted to say that this was a fantastic read. I can honestly say, I have never compared the two scriptures (Matthew and Psalms) to come to this. This context completely eluded me.
