Why do I call myself Omegaman?

This blog topic is about pre-judgement. It strikes me that part of you question implies that I am claiming to be God. That you would think that I am claiming diety, seems like an extreme case of pre-judgement.
Of all the reasons that I might choose that name, claiming equality with God would be the worst. Why assume the worst case?

The is a car called Omega. I might have been an enthustiast of those cars. Had I called myself Mustangman, would that mean I was claiming to be a horse? How about Rolexman, maybe I like watches, there is a famous watch brand Omega. What if I had called myself Jesusman. Would that be a claim to be Jesus, or prehaps a person who loved Jesus so much, that he is broadcasting his association with Jesus?

Since you asked, I will explain it, and a lot more. Let's start with Omega. It is the 24th letter of the Greek alphabet, the last letter. The Greeks did not have a system of separate numerals. You are no doubt familiar with Roman numerals. They also represented numbers with letters, I, V, X, etc.

In the Greek numeric system, Ω (omega) had a value of 800. Put in the passages in the book of Revelation, if it had been written in English, it would have said I am the A and the Z. We use this kind of language ourselves sometimes, i.e. "everything from a to z". Omega is a metaphor for the end, as Alpha is for the beginning. Jesus is claiming with the title "Alpha and Omega", a similar concept as God did when Moses asked His name. In our English Bibles, God says His name is "I AM". That is a bit simplistic. It conveys one of timelessness - according to Nelsons Bible Dictionary:

"One of the most important names for God in the Old Testament is Yahweh, or Jehovah, from the verb "to be," meaning simply but profoundly, "I am who I am," and "I will be who I will be."

Jesus is not the Omega. He is not the Alpha, He is both the Alpha and the Omega, he is timeless.

John 8:58-59

58 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

There, Jesus was claiming the divine title, claiming pre-existence to Abraham. By being both Alpha and Omega, He establishes that same concept, being there at the beginning, eternally present, there into the future and never ending.

If you want to apply the Omega half of this metaphor, I would be claiming to be at the end and never ending. Well, I do believe I am never ending, for I have inherited eternal life.

Consider the following passages:

1 Peter 1:18-20
18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

Jude 17-19
17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." 19 These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

1 John 2:18-19
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

Those passages establish that we are in the last days - the Omega times, so to speak.

1 John 3:1-2
2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Phil 3:20-21
20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Since I as a man of God in these last times, and sharing some characteristics with my Lord, and to share more of them later, I am an omegaman, but not the only one, and certainly not the Alpha and Omega.

When I first became involved in computer based ministry, the internet was not yet available to the public. In those days, I hosted a Bible questions and answers forum and and end times forum on an electronic bulletin board system.

If you are not familiar with those, it was similar to what we enjoy in the forums here at Worthy and other places. However, instead of typing an address in a web browser, you had to dial a specific number, conect, and download and upload messages with a 300 baud modem. In those days, I owned a computer with an Omega Logo on the case, I chose the name Omegaman, based on that logo in those days, as well as what I just explained about being a last times man. The name just sort of stuck.

Thanks for your question. It is one that I am occasionally asked in the chatroom. Now, I have a place to point people to (here) for a detailed answer, instead of trying to type out an explanation.

Take care Margaret, and try to look for the positives in life, that God has blessed each of us with.

why do you call yourself omega man - Jesus is the only Omega Man - we are His creations and only GOD offers salvation so none of us should claim to be a god or goddess.

premature judgement i can see now!there is a saying in Britain, never judge a book by its cover which says the same thing - a book with a pristine cover might turn out to be totally unsuitable for a young trusting person to read but a book with a tatty dirty cover may hold invaluable treasure - especially if it is the Bible.
We tend to categorise people by the way they dress and when they open their mouths may suddenly find that the person is wiser than he or she appears from attire or may find that the person is an empty vessal making a big noise, and i still cannot relate to sueing it is a concept too alien for me to consider.

As a former McDonald mamager. I think if McDonal would have address her first concern, then maybe the lawsuit would not have went that far.

Well Margaret,
It should be easy to understand why people sue. The first reason, is an attempt to get their life back to the way it was, before they suffered some loss due to the negligence or malintent, or even the uninteded consequences of the action of another. Usually, we call this justice.
Another reason people sue, is to take advantage of a situation to enrich themselves. Usually, we call this greed.
Sometimes, people sue to punish another, sometimes vengeance is the motive, sometimes a sincer effort to coerce others to behave responsibly is the motive, and sometimes, is is just plain meaness.
I am sure there are other reasons, and yes, they can be iinteresting to examine.
However, lawsuits were not MY topic, making judgements when you do not have all the information needed, was my topic.
Funny thing, I found my blog here, was posted on other sites, and the comments generated on those, also focused on the lawsuit, not on the topic of premature judgement.

I too was very upset when I heard about this lawsuit. I have raised my children never to judge others least you be judged. It was the way I was raised. But I felt that this was her fault and not McDonald's. This is the world we live in. It has become cruel and ugly. Everyone is out to get you no matter who they hurt. People have become greedy and children have more authority over parents. We were given a chance to make this a better world when Jesus was crucified. Looks to me like us humans are botching it up again.
