There has been considerable contention on this topic. It is as though there are two ways of seeing the world. On the one hand, there is a recogition of a problem and an attitude, and what can be done about it. One the other hand, there are those who are reactionary, and find fault with that. Some of those, were in a self-described condition of poverty and sought to defend their condition, as if they were the targets of an attack.
A few got the actual message, and I am grateful for that. I can see that there is not likely to be much said here, that has not already been said.
While it may not be fair that I get to have the last word, I hope it is something you can live with. If you really need to tell me off, I am available several evenings a week in the chatroom, generally in the 7 to midnight west U.S. coast time. I will be happy to hear your further criticisms there.
For now, I am closing this topic to further comments, feeling that this topic has run it's course.
Thank you for reading it, and special thanks to those who chose to voice their opinions.

I have never lived true poverty Sharon, but I can describe it. I have seen it up close, no available medical care, dirt floors, tattered and dirty clothes, no running water, and a sewer system that is nothing more that a hand dug creek slowly running past peoples homes. This creek with feces floating in it, is also the drinking water supply. The 'homes' are constructed of cardboard, sticks, pieces of metal or what ever else they could find. No window, no doors, no heat, no utilies of any kind. Food scarcely available, and when it is, it is rotting or maggot infested. Do you have to live that lind of poverty to understand it? I do not think so. That is a life without hope.
That is real poverty, and some people in the world, have it worse. My point was comparing our ideas of poverty in the United States, with the abject poverty that some people in other parts of the world experience. Try making ends meet on a dollar a day, or even think about it, and you will imagine what I am talking about. Compared with that, America's poor, have it relatively good.
People in your economic state, do not have an easy life. It is hard, you deserve compassion and help. So while I was comparing American poverty with the poverty in third world countries, your level of poverty is not the type I was addressing. I don't think you will find that I, or anyone else who commented on this topic, suggested that you were lazy or not really poor. Remember what I said when i started this off . . . home ownership, cars, air conditioners, TVs etc, are things that many of those who are called poor, enjoy. They are better of than the middle class was in my father's generation.
Our expectations are high these day. We see wealth around us, and think of it as the norm, something that everyone is supposed to have, and we make ourselves unhappy, by trying to have all the same things our neighbors do.
The poor, know who they are. Some of the well off, do not recognize that they are well off, so they go through life miserable, because they cannot or have not reached the expectations they have set for their lives.
My blog, was not for you. It was for those who have not taken the time to count their blessings, because they are too busy whining about the things that they do not have, and do not need. Big difference.
I am having real trouble, understanding why people who are not well off, think I am speaking to their situation. Those, who like you, are really struggling, are in our prayers. Those of us, who are better off, need to be supportive of those who have not. In most communities there are people who are struggling. In most communities, their is some organization devoted to helping such people. Our responsibility, is to remember the poor, and seek to help them. The poor have a responsibility too, to try to rise up out of their poverty, and until they do, brush aside any pride they have that might keep them fron receiving help offered. Failing to do that, both those who want to help, and those who need it, are both missing a blessing.

Thats right there is only one catholic church, catholic means universal.. Now if one speaks of the catholic church being the universal church that was founded by christ, then sure, however if you mean the catholic church that was divided in the martin luther days then then you will have to demonstrate that christ founded it. If you try to use peter as your demonstration, then i will also need you to demonstrate that also. Since the scripture mentions nothing of the sort then it will be difficult to demonstrate that christ founded the "catholic church."
Luthers division was with penants, and the fact noone had the scripture available to them. Allowing the penants doctrines to be widely spread. Basing salvation on works not on grace. So it seems to me that that division was necc.so that the truth of the gospel would actually be exposed..

Folks, you won't be able to describe poverty fully until you've lived it. My family can be classified as poor because we breathe it daily. 5 in our Family living in someone's house, sleeping on the floor and not because we are lazy. We are Christians, we look very nice when we go into Public, but we can't afford car gas, utilities, rent and food all at the same time. Our lights were off last week, lasting for 2 weeks and we chose that, so that we could buy food instead. Please all, a little more compassion for those of us who do work hard but can't make ends meet. ,,,By the way, we do have a TV someone bought for us 5 yrs ago. Thanks for listening.

I think the two things that have made the most sense to me, in my life, when ya don't feel at the top of your game, are these: Don't be guided by fear and worrying about not being in control is not my job.
Keep Tha Faith even it it means taking it one minute at a time. I believe that the one thing we all say to ourselves at least once in our lives is "Gee, if I only knew what I knew now when I was there, back then. I think fear and loneliness are the toughest feelings to handle. They are our feelings though, so ya don't have to feel that way. Well, not being able to take back a typo is pretty tough too!! (what will they all think...oh my...whoops, there I go feeling scared and out of control again)...I have to share this with you all ok??!! The peeps that lurk and linger in and out of our lives that our filled with jealousy and well, more jealousy (which is really fear...everything that is negative is fear based), all have a look on their faces like they have gone to the bathroom in a long time (number two). I'm sorry, but that's how they look to me. They want to bring you down because of some past thing that you have done. some past thing that they think you have done or heard in gossip that you have done or because you are happy or pretty or in a goofy and fun mood. All they are doing is wanting you to act the same way they do when their world is upside down or better yet, when there world WAS upside down and they haven't been able to forgive themselves for something they did so they can't figure out why you can feel acceptance and happiness when they know (or they think they know) that you messed up once too...( oh wow that's fear again huh.!!) Here's a situation that happened to me...These people knew of something that involved me but I was the last to know and didn't know there was more to the story (news at five...lol). So they are all talking down to me and others crying sharing things that happened to them (over a period of many years) and blah blah blah but I didn't know why they were acting like that. Peeps wouldn't have anything to do with me because they knew something and for some reason. it made them feel out of control because I never said word one about it (because I didn't know) but isn't that what forgiveness is???..Forgiving ourselves and moving on like it never happened?? As I look back, it was a great lesson to me. For one, I found out who my friends were and it also showed me that sometime silence is best...silence and a smile because after all, it isn't my job to control everything. It's almost humorous how peeps have an ego trip about "well look what happened to me..My worst event is better than yer worst event"...shessh... Those naysayers are gonna be in for a rude awakening when they die because someone else's life is flash in front of their eyes when they die, instead of their own. May God bless all of you real good or really good!!!
PS...that "thing" that everyone heard about... a girl I was involved with had a child and I moved far away (she was pregnant before I left but didn't tell me. I tried to see her before I left but she wouldn't see me...she even had some guy answer the phone and do her talking for her. I thought, "oh well, she's with some guy no big deal. She had a child but told everyone but me...Why did she tell everyone but me. Why didnt my friends tell me (instead of making late night calls crying that their biggest burden was that they couldn't hit a curveball). I found out 25 years later and someone said, "Hey you were moving and doing your thing. she didnt wanna hold you back"...LOLOLOL...oh yea then why did she tell everyone but me. She knew I'd find out. I feel sad sometimes but what a great lesson..and ya know what??? What if the kid wasn't mine? There were no blood tests or anything. I tracked her family down and spoke with her Mom (she said her daughter didnt have any children..now talk about embarassing...she said it would be nice to know if she had a grandchild...I mean I called like I knew that the girl kept the child, but she didn't and I wish someone would have said something to me. 25 years and nobody ever said anything to me. I was really popular, everybody liked me (although I didn't know that either), but ya know in the movies how there is a character yer jealous of because he always gets the girls or she's good looking or whatever petty resentment comes into our minds, well maybe they just wanted me to fail and said nothing because of their own jealousies. WE are all human and ya gotta admit sometimes when certain peeps get theirs, like in the movies, you kinda like it...lol... You can't control the past. There are no such things as time machines (Although I just did traffic school. The cop asked me "Do you know why I stopped you??" I said yea I was speedin' BUT I was trying to get going fast enough to get sent back 25 years...like a time machine..." He didn't buy it. I hope everyone finds love in their heart and their lives every single day and I hope the balances out the things that aren't so loving. The ex drinkers and drug abusers have a saying HALT...never get to Hungry, too Angry, too Lonely and too Tired. Works for me. It turns out when I'm having a not so loving moment that one of those (or all...lol) is involved in my life. Patty...two words...."ROAD TRIP!!!!"...Hey thanks for letting me share. Sweet sleeps tonight everyone!! Strength and Light to you all!!!

Thanks for sharing everyone. I live in the high desert and had tomatoes growing until Thanksgiving. It's all about the micro-climate I guess. That back corner of my lot just stays productive. I guess that's what prayer can do..Put us into a micro-climate of safety and growth. It's hard to look around in nature and not be grateful for micro-climates....but I'm a guy and don't cook for myself so I'm grateful for my microwave too! Peace Everyone!
